Although some might consider the Karambit to be an ethnic knife, and should maybe be bound within the iKC Ethnic Knives Group, its use and popularity over the years have pushed it beyond its ethnicity to the realm of universal acceptance, much the same as Butterfly knives have become.  Additionally. many major manufacturers now produce either traditional Karambits or karambit-styled variations.

The unique styling of this knife lends itself to both Users, Collectors, as well as the odd curious appreciator.

Kage,
Those remind me of what we all had when I was growing up, a Hawkbill.
I know the karambits have the little ring on the end, but, all in all, it's still a fancy hawkbill.

.... Or maybe the Hawkbill is just an immature Karambit waiting to grow its hole in? :)
EVOLUTION.
More likely Parallel Evolution ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Parallel_evolution ,) in that a Hawkbill comes from the design of a Hawk's Beak, and a Karambit comes from the design of a Tiger's Claw, their common ancestry coming from that of a knife. ;)
