I'm looking for a good crooked knife for spoon making, that is a reasonable price! I have located a couple on the Internet but, they all seem to be $80 each and up. I can't afford that kind of money. Does anyone know of a good one?  This is a curved knife for digging out the bowl of the spoon!  Please drop me a post if you know of anything!

Thanks,

Tom

Tom,

.. a couple of member's are whittlers .. they may be able to point you toward a source .. if not an actual "crooked knife" .. at least a tool for the equivalent purpose .. give JJ a shout on this one ..
hi I am new to ikc . try the site bushcraftnorthwest.com
.. have you considered farrier knives .. would wk in a pinch ..

Sorry it has taken me so long to get back to this, I've been pretty busy. Then about a week ago I had my left knee repaired, so now I am just waiting for it to get back to normal. I wanted to thank everyone for responding to my question. I think I am going ot try and order one of the hook knives from Brisa, like Cutlery Stamp suggested! Thanks CS! The link he sent me is a very nice sight. There are a lot of nice items on there. Some real pretty wood for knife scales. CS, the farrier knife thing is an idea too! I might just get one of those for helping with the other! Looks like they might do a more specific job, if you were hollowing out a spoon cup. I did get a knife given to me by one of the guys on another Forum. He was nice enough to give it to me and even pay to ship it to me! I haven't had time to play with it yet! Didn't figure the old woman would appreciate cleaning up wood chips and shavings from the living room floor! LOL! Right now, I figure I need a nice warm place to stay while I am recuperating, I don't want to end up in the back yard, it is starting to get cold up here! Ha! Ha! Thanks again everyone! Take care!
Send some cold my way! Im roasting day and night in Tampa area!
I'm thinking tighter radius too .. precision wk .... or .... just more reasonably expensive & readily available !!

Crooked Knife? Heck I thought you was wanting a Congress knife. Dale has a good link. Check also Pinewood Forge.
Was that "other" forum WCI, by chance? Seem to remember a thread along those lines.

Heal up good, Tom. Achy joints and winter don't mix well.
Stateside .. that's always cool !!!

Hey guys, I hope you all don't mind me answering your comments all at one time this way. I figure that is easier than trying to answer everyone individually. I really appreciate everyone getting in here and trying to help! I think I have made my decision though, and I have decided to go with Ragweed Forge. I have been wanting to order a few Mora Knives anyway, and they seem to have them all, along with a crooked knife. So I can get my whole order filled at one place. Anyway the crooked knife he has is also supposed to be sharpened on one side, the one that my other friend sent me is sharpened on both sides and that's why he let me have it. He didn't like it cause it was sharp on both sides and he couldn't push it with his thumb!

Chris, I spent my teenage years in St. Pete, so I know exactly what you are saying. If I could ship it, it would be on it's way! Ha! Ha! I'm an old boy from Louisville originally and it gets hot there but, nothing like down there in them swamps. Ha! Ha! I'll stick with northern Ky. and southern In. It has been real hot and dry down in that area this year. They are begging for some rain. Lucky for me, I am in the farther north country now, but when that white stuff starts flying, I won't feel so lucky! Ha! Ha!

Dale, I think I am going to try out this one from Ragweed first before I go any further! I think those Farrier knives are going to be a little more expensive. I kind of have the feeling that this knife is going to do the job for me. I talked with someone else that tried the Farrier, and he didn't care for it, it really didn't do what he was wanting it to, to make spoones.

Yeah Dale, I was looking for a crooked knife. I got a couple of pretty good congress knives already but, thanks anyway. I will check out Pinewood Forge too, when I have a few minutes! My problem, is I get to looking at another site and I will find something else that I need, or think I need! Ha! Ha! The guy that sent me the other knife is a friend on bladeforums.com.

If any of you guys are into really good handmade knives, why don't you guys check out my good friends website at: jkhandmadeknives.com! He makes some really great knives if your into traditionals, or any other kind! He will make anything you are looking for. I just picked up my LOBO from him last week, and I love it. I can hardly wait for this knee to heal up, so I can get out to t he woods. If you contact him, be sure to tell him I sent you! I guess that is about it for this trip. All you guys stay safe and keep your powder dry.
