iKnife Collector

The online community of knife collectors

We're glad to have you in the iKC Community. To get the most out of it, we kindly suggest you do the following:

1. Spiff Up Your Profile Page- Add a profile pic, tell us about your interests, where else can we connect with you on the web, add some widgets- Just have fun customizing it. The more info you're willing to share the better we can connect with you. I'd bet there are other iKC members with similar interests, so share yours with us.

2. Introduce Yourself- We have a discussion board specifically for introductions. Stop by and tell us a little about yourself.

3. Join an iKC Group- While iKC is a community of all knife collectors, our Groups are mini-communities for special interests. Check out the groups, join one that interests you, and start connecting with like-minded men. Once you join a group, jump right in.

4. Start a Blog- Each iKC member has a blog account. Take advantage of yours. Our blogs are intended for informational purposes that benefit our community, like a type of knife you collection, knife things you are passionate about, collection trends, etc. Please use the forums for posting questions or introducing yourself.  Check out my vision for our blogs to get an idea of what we use them for. Here's Blogging to the Knife Community Part II with video.

5. Upload some pictures- Have pics of your favorite knife? Share it with us! Then create an album for them. It's like pulling out your wallet to show off your kids.

If you have questions about using our community, check the Member Help menu. Still stumped, PM me, I'll help.

Here's my promise to you- the more time you spend getting to know us, the better you'll like us :)

Thanks for joining and I look forward to seeing you around iKC.

I intend to do exactly that. internet use is limited at the moment, but will be sorted very soon.
i think it improves the atmosphere once you customize all your stuff, and as it all grows a community like this is very rewarding, and can feel like your second virtual home.
Especially for people with families, and busy lives, who would never get the chances to interact with friends hardly at all, the site and the computer kind of make this possible. its like having your friends all living with you. i like it.
ive nearly got enuf cash to buy my own laptop again. then i can have some fun.
i think iKc is a pucker idea. :-)
Thanks John. Glad you like iKC. I agree- with all my goings-on it is hard to get out in the real world, going to knife shows, etc and visit with my knife friends, which is exactly why I started iKC. Case in point, I had a flight booked to go to the Wolverine Show in MI a week ago. Had to eat the plane ticket cause my son made it to the next round in basketball tournament. But with iKC I still get to visit without having to leave the farm :)
I have just joined tonight and it's a bit late. I have a picture of a knife i just got off ebay that I'm dying to share. I'll be back to flush out my profile with some pics and whatnot on the weekend. Just thought I should read your intro before I left site. Thanks, Terry T.
Thanks Terry. Please do come back and load 'em up. We love to look at favorite knives of our members.
Great advice I have started on several of these tips and will be working on a blog soon.
This is a nice site. I just joined and will get busy spiffing up my profile.

Formatting and Responding Problems

"Reply to This" form won't let me type, add a picture or URL link, format fonts or even respond as I can't get the Reply to this form to work which means I reply by using the Add Reply button instead and if I make a mistake it won't let me correct/edit it.

I wanted to add this as a new topic in the forum "Potential New iKC Groups- Feedback and Help" but it wouldn't let me...I could type of the Title Bar line but not in the body of the form and it would not take a new discussion unless there is something in the body of the form.

What gives? Am I the only one whose experiencing this prob,em? Has anyone got a fix for it? Do I have to change a setting on my browser to make it work?

I get an "error on page" in the bottom of the browser on most screens.

Thank you in advance.

Shlomo,

I am so sorry you are having these issues.  Lets see if we can figure this out for you.

what browser are you using?  If your using Explorer what version?

Windows XP Home SP3 and Internet Explorer 8

So there shouldn't be any problems unless I have a setting somewhere set to something this program doesn't like.

Then again, this isn't the greatest program there is--no print preview, hard to navigate between areas.

My system works on Facebook and Twitter--mind you, I never go there unless via an onsite link.
Shlomo, the only issue known at this time is some conflicts with IE9. Some have tried a different browser ie FireFox and had better luck. One other question are you on hi-speed or dial up?

One other thing, I did try to create a discussion "Potential New iKC Groups" towards the bottom of Forum, and it took a minute but opened up and gave me full access to the full menu to load pictures, etc.  If you go to that Forum position, open "Potential New iKC Groups"  and press the add button, everything should come up.  Also you usually get a few minutes to delete or edit information, not everywhere but in most places. If you really make an error or find the little red x up in the right upper corner and delete that way. If you still can't get it email me and I will delete for you.
