iKnife Collector

The online community of knife collectors

We're glad to have you in the iKC Community. To get the most out of it, we kindly suggest you do the following:

1. Spiff Up Your Profile Page- Add a profile pic, tell us about your interests, where else can we connect with you on the web, add some widgets- Just have fun customizing it. The more info you're willing to share the better we can connect with you. I'd bet there are other iKC members with similar interests, so share yours with us.

2. Introduce Yourself- We have a discussion board specifically for introductions. Stop by and tell us a little about yourself.

3. Join an iKC Group- While iKC is a community of all knife collectors, our Groups are mini-communities for special interests. Check out the groups, join one that interests you, and start connecting with like-minded men. Once you join a group, jump right in.

4. Start a Blog- Each iKC member has a blog account. Take advantage of yours. Our blogs are intended for informational purposes that benefit our community, like a type of knife you collection, knife things you are passionate about, collection trends, etc. Please use the forums for posting questions or introducing yourself.  Check out my vision for our blogs to get an idea of what we use them for. Here's Blogging to the Knife Community Part II with video.

5. Upload some pictures- Have pics of your favorite knife? Share it with us! Then create an album for them. It's like pulling out your wallet to show off your kids.

If you have questions about using our community, check the Member Help menu. Still stumped, PM me, I'll help.

Here's my promise to you- the more time you spend getting to know us, the better you'll like us :)

Thanks for joining and I look forward to seeing you around iKC.

Okay, a few things that have cropped up that should be addressed.

Why can you only get to "Discussions" from your "My Page" and not from the main menu?

Why are some threads displayed newest to oldest and others the complete opposite?  Why?  Is there some way that you can set your preference(s) to?

Have you given any thought to maybe getting a different program since there's dozens of them out there?

On the main page you can click on a discussion that is active. It appears on the left side of the main page. To get to another discussion in Forum click the Forum tab at the top of the page.

Discussions in the past have been sorted newest to oldest, some oldest to newest. Sometimes one favors another. As an example, some posts should be read through before responding, favoring oldest to newest.

ning is the service provider iKnife Collector uses and I see no potential to change at this time.

Ok, I'm now able to post from Windows instead of going to Chrome but I've developed a problem or a glitch of some sort...I didn't do anything to my system but suddenly, now, when I get to a thread from Outlook Express it allows me to use the "reply to this" box now and use all the buttons.

When I post a picture,  in the comments section, I will type in the maker's name, URL address and/or the dealers name and site so you can easily view their wares.

Of late some aren't appearing on the photo when you bring it up to view...I posted 25, wrote 18--some were by the same maker and when displayed only five (5) appeared...This is weird, no?  I then have to go back and re-type the info, save it and then it will appear on the photo...Do you know why or how come?.

I still wish all the forums, discussions, groups etc. were the same as to postings--either make them all newest to latest, or the other way around and keep it the same throughout the forum...O R allow the individuals to choose which method they would like the whole forum to be displayed on their screen.

Can you make it that in one's "Groups" could be in alphabetical order both on the group section and on your own page.

OK well that's good Schlomo its always hard to tell how an individual is set up on his or her own computer and with so many browsers to use and so many versions and updates, some things work and some things don't.

Now on typing in urls, I will double check but you should be able to do that. Obviously you were successful in some cases. Just a question though are you allowing for the screen, including badge to fill in before saving?

A change was made a long time ago...well a year ago anyway, to have discussions newest first. Some older discussions, blogs may have the old order still imbedded. All control for these functions is in our back office which is not available to members and is simply about site maintenance.

On Groups, if you go to Groups you will see all groups listed including, up at the top, Featured Groups. On the right is a sort box with a drop down. Click on that and it allows you to sort by various criteria: Most active, Newest, and Alphabetical. Simply click on alphabetical and wait for a screen refresh and the groups will now be alphabetical.

The groups and the friends drop down only last as long as your on that page, once you go to another page and come back it reverts to most active...I want it to be permanent...Your "My Photos" also needs a way to sort other then "most popular"

Thanks for making it newest first, certainly helps but if you notice this one isn't...Just wish that we had the ability to override some of the program "things"

I mentioned this before, but why is "Discussion" only available from "My Page" and not from the main header...Same applies to photos.

As to the pictures, I upload them--however many at a time--and once uploaded, when they're all on the same page together awaiting as to which album (if any?) to send them is when I will add the URLs, name etc. to the "Description" box only and save them all together at once...I just uploaded two with the URLs in and neither appeared until I went back and added it a second time.

The default choice is "Most Active." Others use the other sorts for different purposes. They do serve a purpose.

Discussions are under a category at the top of the main page called Forum, which is what we are in now.

On photos I will check the options. I am not sure but you may have to add after you save. I'll check that and report back though.
