Permalink Reply by Ron"TUNA"Dumeah on November 30, 2011 at 18:22 Ok so they arrived today. One word "sharp". Poked myself with the end of the Jack! Very nice knives indeed, The handles are in great condition. No scratched on the blades. I did notice one thing about them. They are heavily magnetized. When I put them down they locked onto a few staples that were laying on my desk. I have done enough in the way of rust proofing metal to know rust will not grow on a magnetized piece of metal. To me anyway, the collector who owned this was one smart collector.
The blades are engraved with the words PANHANDLE JACK AND PANHANDLE TRAPPER. If you look closely at the engraving the letters are filled with a gold looking substance. GOLD!!! The tang stamp is THREE BEARS CUTLERY USA and on the reverse of the blade the number 1998 is stamped on. One the front bolster the number 179 is engraved into it.
Now here is the thing about the boxes, I was thinking someone had just put them into queen boxes and drove my hopes up. The boxes are marked with the same number as what is engraved on the bolsters, " Pattern number 179"
I am thinking these are the original boxes to the knives. Could they be a test knife? Pictures are posted to see.
Have you heard back from Queen

Have you heard back from Queen
Permalink Reply by Ron"TUNA"Dumeah on December 5, 2011 at 16:32 I heard back from J Moore at Queen today! As much as I would love to say they are Queen, the pattern is not recognized by them or any of the workers that have been around for a while. So I am defiantly going to say my Queen wanna be's are not. I am going to say though that they are a good set of knives, Made by The Three Bears Cutlery. The info I have gathered on the company is that it is out of Florida and the number and Address is out of use. So they are a rare knife and I like that!
Ron,
Three Bears Cutlery was listed in Crawforville FL, If all else fails contact that folks you know in that little town and peice togeather the life of three bears cutlery. So here is what we have found. The owners were Pat Lake and Fannie Roberts.
500 sets were ordered and received from Queen Cutlery
500 knives more were ordered and sent to David Yellow Horse bearing rebel flags
Cost for the set was 22 for leather package ( with both knives they were 44.oo)
Those knives were patterned after the Case slimline and the mini trappers
Hope this helps. Your wanta be's ARE produced by queen
