Shipping has become such a hassel, as well as expense.
Been saving to have a special knife made. When I get "unpacked" and see what all I have, I will be shopping again.
But, I suppose YES, the shipping keeps me from buying some I might otherwise buy.
High shipping rates is one of the reason why I don't order knives from US any more. Now I try to serch the chespest shipping in EU. From UK to Latvia 4,50£ for 0,5kg. Its cheap if you order 3 or even 4 small knives. The best we don't have a high taxes inside of EU. If I order from US than shipping could be from 15$ - 50$ and maybe more for one pocket knife. And taxes 22%
USA
Knife price + shipping = X
X * 0,22 = Xtax
X + Xtax = final knife price in my contry.
UK
Knife price + 4,50£ = final price in my country.

I've had times where the taxes I had to pay were under €10 and the fee was €15....getting to total extra up to €25.
Permalink Reply by Kevin S Gallagher on November 18, 2011 at 21:26 First off I always check local stores for something I want yet 95 percent of the time they do not. In the past 10 years I have easily purchased over 200 knifes yet less than 10 were purchased locally.
In regards to shipping cost, I use the lowest price with insurance since usually I do not actually need the purchase right away 80 percent of the time. If I do need the item ASAP I will pay the price for two day shipping (usually but not always).
I have not researched shipping code but I think it is safe to say the better Internet stores are working hard to keep cost down for customers (then I could be wrong).
Bottom line is I need to purchase online a good deal, I make a good living hence no issues here.

No. But I like shipping deals when, and if, I can get them.
Thank Kevin, I wish I could purchase more locally too. Pretty limited selection and a lot of"junk". I do rely on internet for most.

Me too Craig, I sure do like those SMKW $5.00 shipping deals! Plus I don't know if checked Amazon recently but you hit $25.00 and its free shipping. I like that too!
