The UPS Guy just dropped off the Windows 7 Laptop....more to follow
Sorry wildjim- no help here. I'm a Mac :)
I ordered a new WD Black Scropio 7200 rpm HDD and 4gb of memory for my laptop and installed Windows 7 on it.

No problems installing or using Windows 7 and its running fast now, mostly due to the new upgraded hardware ; )
I just got it on an HP desktop. Today. It is different.
Right now I'm stuck in Vista world. What a mess. you know after Windows 98, me etc I really expected great things from Vista, what a stupid system. I don't think a day goes by I don't say how much I dislike Vista, IE8, Microsoft in general and Bill Gates in particular. Except I don't use words like dislike when referencing the appropriate product. Almost at that stage where if a purchase comes up again I may go the way of our leader and buy mac.

Here we are in 2010 and we are still using technology that has been in existance for OVER 30 YEARS!

Oh well maybe Windows 7 is better, maybe Windows 8 will be or Windows 9 or 10.....
I use Windows 7. Do you need help with something?

Thanks Casey, there may be no help for me...just kidding. I have not had the courage to step to Windows 7. Whats your experience been and did you migrate from Vista or have the good fortune to skip it altogether?

So far my Windows 7 experience has been a lot better than previous versions of Windows. I'm younger than some, so the oldest Windows I've used was Windows 98. Everyone knows that Windows XP was full of bugs and programs always crashed. Windows Vista is known as the "slow annoying" operating system because it hogs a bunch of resources and constantly nags you about security risks. I had the opportunity to use Vista, but went back to XP because I hated it so much. This has not happened to me since I've been using Windows 7. It looks very similar to Windows Vista, but it runs a whole lot faster. Basically all of the annoyances of Vista have been fixed. Programs don't crash on me, and there are a few "nifty" features that have been added. If you can find a deal, I say go for it. I am a student so I was able to get my copy of Windows 7 Pro for about $70. If your computer is getting old, you might be better off buying something with newer hardware and Windows 7 already pre-installed.
Thanks for that info, I've heard some good things about Win 7 so I might just take your advice and make a change if I can get a deal. Would be worth it not to have the aggravation. You are absolutely right about it being a resource hog No matter how I tweek it, it still churns away. My computer is about two years old so its not ancient but getting there.
Feel free to ask if you ever have any more questions. Yes, it is sad how fast computers age in comparison to new technology. I bought a laptop with top of the line hardware just a few months ago, already the hardware is no longer "top of the line." Oh well it's suitable for my needs.
