Hey Gang,

We are building this Group to discuss the Wilderness Survival knife or WSK Knife or WiSK knife or TRACKER KNIFE. In the future we will discuss three elements in the design and purpose of the WSK reguarding the Fit, Form and Function. We will site history and development and makers Production and Custom.

At first glance the knife is looked at as an oddity and novelty but if someone takes a bit of time to understand and use it soon becomes apparent the the tool is worth its weight.

I look forward to sharing the information. This will be an exciting adventure.

I have used the Raven WSK and I will tell you, it's worth it's weight in gold to me. It's a wilderness Multitool. I describe it as a lineal hatchet.
hey i own the tops tracker and i have used it but i feel like I'm not using it to its full potential...
Why do you feel this way? Tops makes a good knife.
Here is our New RS6 EVO 2 WSK Introduction
We have rolled in the power of the original EVO Chisel Ground design and the cross cut saw of RAVEN WSK.

got yourselfs another winner here ,like the recure and skull smashing pommel, similar to the jensen tracker type blade ! are you working with them ? keep up awesome tools stay sharp RicK..
Rick,

I am NOT working with Jensen. We have only committed that if we do a Production run of the EVO design I would give anyone who Paid for a Peter Jensen EVO and failed to receive it a Knife free and clear. We asked that you contact us privately which a few already have and when we do the run we will deliver on that. I am not certain when we will do the Production Run or if with the way the economy is.

Currently we make these here in USA one at time in the RS6 Custom Shoppe.

Thanks for your encouraging words. We are striving to constantly grow and build on the offerings. Our next part is the full retail locations.
hi RSSB when i saw your EVO 2 i thought id seen it before at jesen elite blades so have you taken on the model ? keep finding WSK and tracker type blades here and there but none of them are as good as the real thing http://www.coltelleriacollini.com/tacticalknives.html heres another one ,good job you and tom brown dont want royalties eh , keep up awesome tools good luck with EVO , RicK.

Thw WSK model kind of puts us into a Single stereo type and we have more designs we want to be known for. The WSK is time consuming and while a great enjoyable piece to make custom or Production. We make most them Custom until demands push to the point of Production levels. Which we have done in Asia and USA. We even offer customization services on our Production knives. We have gotten into doing Custom Leather and I enjoy making Native American items, like moccasins, breastplates, chokers, tomahawks, and primitive knives.

So we actually stopped doing the WSK to explore other dimensions. We never committed to cease forever. We have had a number of pleas to bring it back and I suppose I could be convinced but I would make some changes to our design based on customer feedback. The EVO WSK designs have been extremely effective. Although not as pretty they are more effective due to the drastic geometry changes in more effective cutting.

Something to ponder I suppose...

I still admire the Red Six WSK. I never realy understood why production stoped. Must have been the economy. As far as I know those where never for sale in Europe. I searched for one in 2009.

Cheers Wouter

A RED SCORPION SIX tomahawk sounds good and exciting , what design you going for survival type or CQT ? look forward to seeing hawk in steel .stay sharp RicK .

We are working on a one piece steel CQB Spike hawk with customizable scales.

currently we did a RS6 Ranger Hawk based on the Rogers Ranger Spike Hawk I also have in picture the Custom MoHawk Intense Survival Tool.

TOPS  KNIVES have  got three types of survival hawk head out one version the haket outfitter comes with spear head !! still cool hawk heads , CQB spike hawk sounds more like it good for entry and dirty close combat .

From watching survival shows on TV, the blades of most high-quality fixed blade WSK's (wilderness survival knife) seem to be at least 1/4-inch thick and thus well-suited to using them like a hatchet to cut small trees, bone and other materials by pounding on the spine with a club or a rock.  If your WSK is a folder,  I've been impressed with how critical it is to select one that's sturdy enough to endure being pounded on its spine like that.    To me, this seems like a major consideration in selecting a WSK.  Can anyone tell me what the advantage would be in selecting a folder over a fixed blade WSK?
