hmm interesting... is there any more words or symbols other then the ones shown?

No, just the one pictured. His work had him in many countries such as Saudi Arabia, Jordan, etc. so it was possibly from one of these countries.

it says... "bd rahman" its Arabic combind with old aribic... im sure thats the knife maker according to my friend...

I found something what looks like your knife. If its right than your knife is Ethiopian African custom, hand made hunting/fighting knife. I found it on ebay www.ebay.com/itm/Ethiopia-Africa-Custom-Hand-Made-Hunting-Fighting-...

The blade is approx the same, just your knife is a antique, but on ebay its a newer. Any way your knife comes from Africa or Arabian countries. Thank you for all of the help! I have since expanded my knife collection to include several benchmades; nice to know I have something different.
