to big and heavy
Yes it is...I guess thats why I enjoy it. Im a pretty big dude so the weight thing is not an issue. I carry a full size 1911 most times too. Its kinda like excersise!!! lol
It's a Pocket Sword
I personally like it very much. I like a little "heft" in my knives and the s30v steel is a great choice. It's nice to see Benchmade making some folders in the "large folder" size. Benchmade makes some really great designs I would just personally like to see them offer a few more large ones like the Rukus. Good job Benchmade.
Actually, that is one that I don't have...but have been eyeballing for some time. Been packing a 710 for quite some time know and really like it. I think that I'll be making a Rukus shortly.
id edc a rukus if i had one...
Actually, both the Rukus and the Mini Rukus are on my "To Get" list. I own several Benchmade folders...but nothing really BIG (the 710 is the biggest one that I have). These both look like fantastic knives. Price is a little steep...but probably worth it given Benchmade's penchant for producing top quality blades. I'm built like a tree-trunk, so the weight won't bother me. I tend to like burly knives and the Rukus design looks pretty darn brawny!

Well...I did it. I picked up the full-size Rukus and I have to say I'm pretty impressed. It is the largest folding knife that I've ever owned. And talk about SMOOTH opening action! It's totally SLICK! Cool grip materials with a combination of G10 and linen micarta!

Well...now I have both the full-size Rukus and the ironically-named "mini". I really like these knives and will be doing a review on them shortly!
I've been looking at these knives for probably a couple of years now wondering if I should get one. There is one question that I have about the Rukus (and several other knives, actually). Perhaps you could help.

In CA, it is illegal to carry a knife that you can open by shaking the blade out of the handle. They call it a "gravity knife" or "snap-blade knife" or whatever. Is the Rukus or Mini-Rukus apt to do this?

I do tend to really like Blackwood designs. I have the 630 Skirmish and love it dearly. It sure "saved the day" once.

Thanks
Well, mine does not actuate that easily but as stated, it is smooth to open. I think you would be ok in the respect of your question not sure of CA size restaints.
Thank you, John.

California size restraints are actually pretty good for folders. State laws do not limit blade length for folders or fixed blade knives. They do require fixed blades to be carried openly from the waist and folders, as I said before, have to have serious blade retention. The blade has to be fully closed when the knife is in your pocket...if it's open just a little, they can pop you for having a "stabbing implement."

There are local laws that restrict blade length, however. The city where I work has a 5.5" limit for folders. The city where I live has no limit. Los Angeles says "under 3." I legally EDC a Zero Tolerance 0200 and that's really all the weight that I would want to carry. The Rukus is the same weight and looks like a really nice option.

Again, thanks for replying and Happy New Year.
