Well, since I have both knives, I tested this. Here is what I found:

Mini-Rukus: I can shake this out if I go "nuts" with it and really whip my arm around. This took a fair amount of work to make happen.

Blackwood full-size Rukus: Piece of cake. Shook out pretty readily. To be fair, I suspect that thickness of the blade steel adds enough weight to make this much more doable. That and my particular knife is freakishly smooth.

The results didn't surprise me. Frankly, this has more to do with the Axis-lock design than anything else; I can shake the blades out on my Griptillians. Interestingly, the Axis-lock knives that also have the Nitrous system just flat won't shake out at all. Can't make it happen.

The conclusion that I'd draw on this is that the Rukus is not a "snap-blade knife" or, really even a "gravity knife", but the dipsticks running the law in California might just bust your hump because they are "wired wrong". For a state with so many good things about it, it sure has some very terrible down-sides. I remember a time when California really was the most amazing state in the country. That was a really long time ago...
Thank you, sir, I really appreciate your review. I hope i'm not bugging you, but I'm always wondering about the 'shake-out' test before I buy a blade and will probably ask you about other blades. If I'm ever a problem, tell me to buzz off! LOL.

Yeah, I'm not surprised about the Rukus, but that is good news on the Mini-Rukus. I'll definitely consider it. The non-shake-out properties of the Nitrous system is great news (I think I see a Stryker in my future;)).

I, personally, would never consider a Rukus a "snap-blade" or whatever they call 'em, and most cops probably wouldn't either. Judges, on the other hand...In California, who knows what they will do. (Okay, it's ranting time!) I'm probably nit-picking as I don't command a great deal of police attention, but I hope my plight will serve as a warning to people in other states. Homicide is illegal...Assault with a deadly weapon is illegal...why should any weapon be illegal? If I haven't done any harm, I haven't committed a crime. I don't know, it's just too ridiculous. Maybe we can elect R. Lee "Gunny" Ermey as Absolute Emperor with power to repeal any law for just a month. We would be in better shape. Also, when the state finally goes bankrupt, NO BAILOUTS.

What can I do? There are gorgeous mountains on one side of me and the sunset over the Pacific is just a block away. It's the dead of winter now, and it was 74 degrees today. I'll keep preaching liberty in the hopes that we're not a lost cause. If you're tough and love liberty, come to California. We need your help.

Thanks Again,
LBJ
I love the California of 40 years ago. Today's state is a sad shadow of it's former self. That said, I'd move there, but the economy is in bad shape and the wife won't go for it. LOL. Sorry pal, you're gonna have to try to recruit another. Too bad too; I'm freezing right now!
Well, at least we still have Clint Eastwood.
Yes! Though we're running short on the old tough-guy heroes!
I love the rukus!!! it is a great knife that is verry strong and keeps an edge fore a long time .You have a great knife!!!
