Comment by Gus Marsh on August 9, 2011 at 13:29 This is a Centofante folder that I had Frank make for me special. This knife is 6 ¼ inches long with a 2-¾ inch blade lock back. It has real stag handles and a large nickel silver bolster. The knife has file work on both sides of the liners, making for a real special knife. This knife is marked “Centofante, Madisonville, TN”.
My main complaint was that when I carried a knife, it would create a hole in my pant pockets. Frank tried to solve the problem by making a large bolster, thus covering over the exposed shank of the blade. It looked like it would work, but I have to tell you folks, if you carry this knife for 2 or 3 months, it will create a hole in your pant pocket. The upper tip of the bolster, even though it looks smooth, it causes the problem. While I love Centofante knives, I am going to retire this knife and use some cheap old knife for everyday use.

Comment by Gus Marsh on July 18, 2011 at 9:19 Here are two of Frank Centofante straight knives, both marked Tampa, Florida. I was able to purchase three straight knives from Frank before he moved on to making folders. The big hunter is 9 inches overall with a 4 inch 440C blade, brass guard and brass pins. The handle is real stag that has been ground down to fit the average hand. The tang is not tapered, making for a heavy knife. I paid $50.00 for this knife in 1971
The second knife is a Frank Centofante coffin knife, double edge blade of 440C. The knife is 8 inches overall and the blade is 3 ¾ inches long, nickel silver bolsters and 20 nickel silver pins in the micarta handle. I purchased these knives between 1971-1973. I paid $65.00 for this knife in 1972, thinking that was way over-the top. The third knife is also a coffin knife and it was also $65.00 in 1973.

The blade is 2 3/8 inches long made of ATS34; nickel silver bolsters engraved and real jigged bone red handles. This was one of my first Centofante knives and I carried it around for several years before retiring it.
