yea bro thats very true, thanks for the input,i will deffinatly keep that in mind
I got scammed into buying a Benchmade knife, or what i thought was a real Benchmade knife...thing is its a fake...i felt like a fool...but guess what? that knife is actually quite sturdy and well made...a replica i guess...

its better/sturdier than say an opinel for the same price...so it aint all gloom....lol
I think there are sometimes good buys on great knives and great buys on cheap knives. BUT now that I have owned lots of both I think you have to be careful about really cheap knives. You can get badly cut by a cheapo liner lock if the lock fails.
Theres nothin wrong with having a cheap knife in a tool box to cut string, or in a mail room to open packages.
even still, I tell my "non knife people" friends that its better to spend a little more and get something that you will love than to get junk. I have been trying to educate some of the police in my town about it. Most of them carry crap for knives. and the crap they do carry is horribly dull. Cheap knives usually dont hold an edge and need MORE care. Also, laterally, cheaper folders often develop play in the blade.........BY THE WAY there are Ebay sellers that sell cheap chinese knock offs of high priced knives. I tried to help Extrema Ratio ( an Itialian tactical company that makes very good knives) catch one of them, but they were using a PO box in China and there was no way to track them. I have since seen MANY fakes on ebay. Including a fake Pat Crawford and other "custom" fakes. If a buy looks "too good to be true" it probably is. .......Alec
This reminds me of a Buck hawkbill I purchased a few years ago. Having the "Buck" stamp on it I assumed that it was made in the USA. Nope! China. I used it as an EDC for a couple of years despite my disappointment, but vowed ever since to engage in some research before I make a decision to buy.
I have owned both cheap and expensive knives. I agree with many of the things people wrote. I have lots of cheapo knives in tool boxes, and bags just for utility purposes. For me, I love to carry a good knife. They keep gettin more and more expensive as I get to know knifemakers at the shows in NY. There are some really great production knives for not more than you would spend for a decent meal for two. Cold Steel, Sog, Spyderco, and many others make great knives...... I went from having 2 Cold Steels as my EDC to an Emerson recently. I even rehandled the Emerson. I love it. If I wasn't so nervous about getting stopped with them, I would carry 3 knives all the time. I used to have a Pat Crawford designed bencmade that I loved, but I lost that one. One thing I have to say is Please dont support the "bootleggers" in China. They hurt knifemakers. I tried to help "Extrema Ratio? in Italy catch the guys in China, bt they were operating from a post office box in China. The fake knife I bought was so bad that it was dangerous in my opinion. Another suggestion is EBAY. You cn find some amazing knives that are slightly used on Ebay and get a much better knife for your money. - Alec
