My favorite toenail, is my marbles MSA pearl, it original, rare, for sale if $ good, not sure what that dude would be worth, any ideas?????? Thanx

After browsing thru all your pictures here, the jumbo swellcenters are my favorites. Man, what a handful! The knickname 'pocket axe' must have been coined for them. Of my own 'toes, the 1970 Case is my favorite. It was the first 'toe I got, it is the oldest knife in my collection, and it has wood handles. For good flowing lines (after the swellcenters), I like the uneven ends of the new Bulldogs. And for just plain flashy, I like the giant peacock etch on the gold pearl Bulldog. Bulldog made lots of sunfish with the great sunfish etch, big & little, but this is the only sunfish with a peacock etch I've seen. I've been eyeing the GEC toenails for a while now and pretty soon I can justify buying another knife. The GEC toenail would be an investment, right? In the meantime, window shopping, comparing & making wish lists is fun too.

Hard to say what is a "good investment," Rusty, but I agree the jumbos are killer. And my favorite name for them is the Pocket Axe, actually.

I'll let Roger or Ken, or anyone else, jump in here on what constitutes a good investment. The 10 dot you have is a good investment- that much I can say!

Scott`s right,it`s hard to know what is a good investment,unless you find a knife for a fraction of what it is worth.Antique toenails the better the condition,better the chance of getting a return on your investment.Some toenails/brands can be worth considerable even in less than great shape, newer knives,I think are a crapshoot.Maybe it`s a run of 100 knives of a certain handle.You know there are 100.Certain antique knives you have no way of knowing how many survived the last 100 years.I think the unknown makes it more interesting.But collect what you like,thats the fun of it.But I wouldn`t count on your knife collection to finance your retirement or whatever.

Thanks for your advice. I am now the proud owner of this Great Easter Cutlery Northfield #252209J. It is my first toenail so it has to be my favorite for now. I never paid much attention to toenails previously They are much bigger and heftier than I ever imagined from the pictures. My knife collecting hobby has a whole new direction to explore now.

Man, that is one good looking knife. Congrats on being a proud owner and member of the ElephantToenailCollectorClub (ETCC)! Great knife to start with.
