Just how cheap can a toenail be made today?

I am amazed to scroll through ebay to find cheap toenails. I mean ones that don't cost anything. You know the Marbles for $19.99, or the newly discovered, for me anyway- Hammer Brand for $25.00 and then the one that started in a few years ago- Rough Riders.

Does it really cost that much more to have a knife made here in the US that ads a min of a $50 buck premium on top of the base cost and starts them up near $100?

I know the US firms (Great Eastern and Case) try to justify their higher prices with the "handmade process" and "made in the USA" but come on.

So, let me ask it the other way- it is really that much cheaper to make a knife oversees today? Help me out here-

Much cheaper labor,lower quality,cheaper material,no EPA,government regulations,taxes,workers comp,etc.
