I have belonged to several knife clubs over the last 20 something years and most of them will offer a club knife once a year. Just curious if this might be something we could do for our Indiana Residents "club". The knife would not have to be expensive...and we could get something engraved on the blade or bolster that would indicate it being our club knife.....like "IR 2009" as an example. Being a dealer I can buy just about any knife at wholesale and would be willing to take on this project at cost ( no profit). Let me know if you guys and gals have any interest.

yes i am very interested! this is a great idea! i would love some segestions for the engraving. could we get some sort of Indiana knife? do you have any knives in mind? will it be a folder or a fixed blade?
this is great!!
I started this discussion to see if there was any interest first. I'm hoping everyone will give some input as to what they would like to see in a club knife. So it's pretty much opened for suggestions/ideas. I would like to keep the cost at no more than $50.00. Here is one of my suggestions....A Kershaw Leek..it's an all stainless assisted opening pocket. It's made in the USA and has a lifetime warranty. With this knife having a stainless handle..it leaves plenty of room to engrave whatever we come up with...here is an example: "iKC Indiana Residents 2010". There is a local business here in Greenfield that does laser engraving...I'll check with them to get an idea of the cost for engraving...I'm about sure we could do this knife for under $50.00.

im in! i love the idea!...... anyone else???
I think this is a great idea, but we should find both folding and fixed knifes that match so everyone can chose what they want. I think the engraving should look like this...

iKC
INDIANA RESIDENTS
2010

... with the iKC and 2010 centered under and over the I.R. and maybe it can be circled.
I really think we should stick with just one knife...either a folder or a fixed blade. Then next years club knife could be whatever we didn't pick this year. We could rotate from year to year...folder, fixed, folder, fixed...ect. One of my main concerns is to keep this affordable for everyone...we may be limited to how much engraving can be done due to cost...but I will check into engraving costs. One of the main reasons I'm concerned about cost is I belong to another knife forum and their club knife is $1000.00 ( I'm not kidding $1G). Well that leaves alot of people out of it.
i agree, i think it should be a folder. the cheaper the better! i do like the engraving idea that Stephen has though. maybe someone else will havea good idea also!
I like Stephen's idea on the engraving also. Either way a folder or fixed. I'm not prejudice towards either one. I'm just waiting to see what input/suggestions we get from other members who maybe interested ...then we can go with what looks to be the most common suggestions/ideas.
I think it depends on if this knife will be a carry one or not. Personally I would not carry it. It would mean too much to me. Where would the graving be at , blade or handle??? I think a lot more opinions are needed and remember to keep the cost down from engraving we need to make it simple but also informative. Thanks
Update: I talked to my source for engraving. We would have to have a minium of 10 knives to keep the cost down...they would not charge a set-up fee for 10 knives or more. As it stands right now, if we went with the Kershaw Leek package (including club engraving on the handle) the cost would be $37.00 per knife. I think thats a hell of a deal...Walmart sells the Kershaw Leek for $49.99 ( the last time I checked). This is not set in stone...we need more input from members that are interested...if you have another suggestion about what knife you would like to be used....speak up.

Way to go Brad on your suggestion and your quick timing on the total cost. Not as much as I thought it would be. Now we just need more input from other members. Sounds good to me so far.
i agree, (again!) awesome research Brad!! i also thought it would cost more!! that is a great price for a great knife!
i think the engraving should go on the handle instead of the blade. i think that is one reason why Brad chose this knife.
i sent out a group email letting our members know about this discussion.... we will see if they are interested or not. I AM!!!
Jeff take a look at the attachments to my last post. The first attachment will show where the club engraving will be placed. The second attachment will show the actual engraving that will be on the handle.
