Very soon I am starting my first knife build. I am scared, excited and can hardly contain myself. So far the materials have been chosen and arrived. It will be slow going. Donnie is not going to let me take over his shop LOL and has a rule that he has to be here when I use the powerblades and such. OK, it's a good rule...At least until I learn about how to use them safely. GRRRR
Have any of you ever considered making a knife? We have seen some work from the women on here and they are just so fantastic I have to try my hand at it

ROFL, I think thats what he is worried about!

Actually, I've been thinking about making a knife of my own. I made a very simple traditional longbow last year and it was so much fun, I would like to make more things out of wood. Why not a knife handle?

The wood is a buckeye burl. Any voids in the wood were filled with blue aluminite. Show us a pic of the bow, I would love to see it. Why not a knife handle????
Permalink Reply by Jan Carter on April 4, 2012 at 18:34 Well with Donnie working so much I am waiting on the initial cut. It requires the band saw and a steady hand to cut the wood in two equal pieces. We will get it done soon so I can start. I am getting very excited
