Leatherman Micra....A Short Review

I have owned this Leatherman Micra since 1995 or so. I bought it at my local Sporting Goods store for about $20. I have to say this is the best $20 I have ever spent! I have taken this thing around the word with me….literally! It has spent time in Switzerland, Germany, Prague, Italy, France, and of course here in the U.S.

I have used this thing for many tasks including pruning a rose bush, opening that God-Awful blister packaging that seems to be used for anything bought at Costco, manipulating a broken bathroom door lock at a Mexican Restaurant, adjusting the action on my Fender Stratocaster, tightening random screws, getting out splinters, cutting down cardboard boxes at my local USPS, and opening bottles of Micro Brew Beers (Mmmmmm….Beeeeer!!). I know that there are more things I am forgetting.

The tools themselves are user friendly for the most part. The scissors work really well as does the Phillips driver and non-locking knife. The bottle opener is a little hit or miss and it usually takes a few tries before it actually works. Also the tweezers are difficult to use in general but they do work.




Overall the Micra has held up well. The tools are a little tough to get out of the handle now because of years and years of gunk build up. It is also showing a few spots of rust and corrosion. Overall I give it a A-/B++. For $20 you can’t go wrong!
