Yap! You right! The unknown knife cost the same, but its smaller! So you pay the same for half smaller knife. Any way I more look on the Whittler, I kinda like the tikka too, but I can get it a little later, because in Riga nobody will by that knife, because too small, but price is pretty big! Here in Latvia more popular are large puukkos and Swedish Moras.
About PUUKKO MUSEO in Kauhava, it would be great to go there and visit, but only in summer! Right now too much work, nobody will give me free time to go for vacation! :D Any way I will order the whittler nex month and than will see when I will pick up the Tikka!
By the way! If you guys exidently or somehow find a small puukko with short and wide blade, please give me to know!
Comment by Keijo on January 26, 2013 at 17:21 Oh I thought that price was for the unknown local knife.
I'm sorry but I do not personally know any makers as I don't actively participate in those circles.
I actually knew there was a puukko museum in Finland but I didn't know where so I had to Google around a little. There are probably a few but the main ones are located in Kauhava and also Finlands National Museum has a puukko-exhibition that circulates but I can't find any information where it is now (if it is currently on display even).
I don't know TIKKA is good knife, it have a little minus - edge is too close to fingers, I almost cut my finger in store. I wrote the price, here in Riga hunting store it cost 44$ so 27EUR is approx the same or a little more? Any way with shipping its cheaper to buy it here than in Finland. By the way the whittler I like more than Tikka, but can't say 100% because I hadn't hold the knife in hands! Would be great to try it out, but go to Finland just to see the knife? Not shore!
Keijo! Is it true that in Finland is a Puukko knife museum? I just saw a video from trip in Finland and there was a Puukko museum (the video owner told that).
Another thing, maybe you guys in Finland know a knife maker who makes a custom order knives for a good prices? I'm mean not extra expensive, but more closer to the prices I wrote in previous comment?
Comment by Keijo on January 26, 2013 at 16:33 Well if you want to keep your budget in check, I'd probably go with the Ahti Tikka, I like the handle more than the others.
You didn't list what the Tikka would cost you but over here I could get one for around 27e.
My borther has an Ahti Leuku and it was very nice, also I know they use a pretty decent steel (a bit more alloyed than most carbon steels you see), so that's a plus.
So guy's what do you think?
Hallo guy's! I'm sorry for no respond on your comments, I just where busy a little and I was need to think a little about the knives.
So what do I have to choose:
1. Lapin Outdoor 72 puukko Price 52EUR pretty expensive, but its a Lapin puukko!
2.Ahti Tikka or the woodpecker 44$ here in Riga
3. Puukkopaja whittler 32EUR
4. The knife what is in store here in Riga - its small, the blade is identical to AHTI TIKKA, but handle is three finger grip. Unfortunately I could not read the maker engraving because blade is small and pretty much there was engraved on blade.
The Roselli have a great knive. My favorite are Gran knives, but they are really expensive, so I think that I would better order the blade to the nearest blacksmith guy for 20-30$ and make handle by my self. Any way right now I'm for two knives: So now I'm thinking what to choose better! The Lapin puukko is a little too expesive for small knife, but its a knife of other quality range, so maybe some day! Than Ahti or Puukkopaja whittler! Another choice is that unknown knife maker small three finger grip knife here in Riga. But again it costs 44$! Pretty expensive fro that kid!
Comment by Keijo on January 21, 2013 at 12:20 There's also Lapinpuukko, check the site fi you find something you like:

Also, if you find something you like, but can't quite find it at a place available to you, do not hesitate to contact me. :)
Comment by Keijo on January 21, 2013 at 12:10 Shorter eh? In that case if you are willing to pay around 100 bucks:

These little buggers surely fit the short wide blade requirement, I do not own a Roselli myself, but I have handled them and they are the comfiest handles I've ever seen.
Comment by Clint Thompson on January 21, 2013 at 9:22 Ivars here is a satin blade CRKT which is much like the PUUKKO styles. This is a great knife.
