Simply Moo-valous. A whimsical, yet functional Swiss Army Knife!

The Wenger Cow Knife with one of my Cow Shot Glasses and the excellent Wenger gift box!

If you buy Wenger Swiss Army Knives, then you already know how great these knives are. If you only buy Victorinox Swiss Army Knives, then you may want to consider flipping the fence for this one simply because of the theme!

Wenger made a series of Evo 10 knives that are tribute to Switzerland, the Home country of Swiss Army knives. (Wenger is the maker of Genuine Swiss Army Knives and Victorinox, the maker of Original Swiss Army Knives; both brands are now owned by Victorinox)

The Evo or Evolution knives are built on the Wenger 85 mm frame and feature contoured cellidor grips. The Evo 10 is an updated version of the old Commander line. The knife features a Spear master blade, small file, can opener, and caplifter/screwdriver. The back tools are cork screw and a punch or awl. Also included are Wenger’s tweezers and and toothpick.

The knife is made to the usual high standards you will find in any Wenger or Victorinox Swiss Army Knife. What sets this one apart is the handle scales. In this case, the handles are white cellidor that has been over printed with black splotches to resemble a cow! The final touch, is the Switzerland Pad print. The printing is slightly elevated so it may rub off but only time will tell. The cow print is on both sides of the knife.

What struck me as curious is the file on my knife. The file surface is actually on the opposite side of the blade than pictured in the advertising or as it appears in my other Wenger knives with file blades. I’m not sure if this is factory error or if it is a new way of doing the file blade.

The knife came in a wonderful gift box that is probably one of the most solid card stock boxes I’ve ever seen.

I’m exceptionally pleased with this knife. I think it appeals to both the knife collector as well as the cow enthusiast. What’s more it is a 100% functional Swiss Army Knife. Don’t be fooled by the bovine scales, this knife can get the job done, if you so desire to use it. For me, however, it is going to be set out to pasture to grow old gracefully.

I did say Whimsical!

Thanks, Toby! I was really mooved by your review!

I have long been a fan of Wenger quality knives, as well as Victorinox. In my opinion these two names, Wenger and Victorinox, are synonymous with fine quality cutlery. In the case of your particular knife, it is udderly unique and uncompromisingly utilitarian.

Cheers!
