Hey people
just wondering what blade shape and grind type do you find best suited for tactical purposes?

I my self like Tonto's because i like having that second point, just make life easier. As for grind type not too sure because i really don't know that much about them but i would assume flat ground should be good at slicing.
i love full flat grind. best grind IMO, but may not be the strongest. i'd love me a full flat ground tanto blade though.
I like a modified drop point blade. I know a lot of people like a tanto blade shape and it does have its uses but I think it looks weird. I like a full flat grind and/or a hollow grind.
I agree with Keelen! I prefer a bowie or drop point blade and prefer a full flat grind for my tactical knife.
Me too. I like drop point and full flat grind. I also hate partial serrations. I want it either full serrations or none.
Really? Full flat? Wouldn't that defeat the purpose of a "tactical" knife. As far as I'm concerned with a tactical knife it better be able to pry open stuff and cut concrete and not have a huge chunk of the edge get knocked out. That and hopefully it can stab the crap out of things ( not that I actually have done that. :D :D :D )

Pretty much the perfect "tactical" knife that I own is this, it's the top knife:

Clip Point
Penetrator tip
.285 inches thick
3/4 Flat Ground
S7 Shock Steel (call it SR-77 if you like, cause it technically is that, as well as S7)
Res-C handles

Makes a good bush blade as well. :D :D :D :D

Anyone ever try one of the chisel grinds? It's really starting to grow on me.
personally i don't like tanto's... they bite (literally), i cut my self like 3 times in the 1st week i had it... all my other ones I'm less prone to self injury...
I have several knives with chisel grinds and i don't like it very much at all. I find it is good for stabbing tasks but not really for cutting. I don't really stab that much so it isn't of great use to me.

I like the Blade styles and chisel grind on Emerson Knives..."There are several reasons for the chisel grind. For any of you who have ever used a correctly sharpened wood chisel for woodworking, you know what a chisel can do. Although a knife is not a chisel, those properties, when applied to a knife grind have almost magical effect. A chisel ground knife, being beveled, (ground) on one side only, possesses greater strength, (due to increased cross sectional mass) and they cut with an ease not found on any other type of blade. This is because there is no parasitic drag produced by the flat side when cutting --- no drag points. On top of that, they are much easier to sharpen --- you only have to sharpen one side."
nice feathering tom stay on top of ya camp craft its a skill that can go rusty and you never know when ya going to be using it ya M8 RicK
For purely tactical purposes, I like the Tanto blade shape with a chisel grind. For someone that knows how to take advantage of the Tanto, it can be a fantastic blade style. It's piercing properties are actually better than spear point, though it's cutting ability is a little less than spear or clip points.
