What's one of the neatest tricks you've learned in making vids or getting knife lovers to subscribe

Scott! That's a secret!

no...really. But it's a lot harder than it looks! Lynsie and I have both noticed that the better quality your video is (sound, camera, background, speech) the more people are attracted to your videos!
Are you a PC or a Mac? And what app/program do you use to produce them? Inquiring minds what to know-
We both use the same stuff, so I'll reply to this one. We use a 7.2 megapixel olympus sp-320, targus tripods, and that's it! Our camera takes only AVI videos so we don't have any programs to edit our videos! they are all one take! (some have taken us DAYS to do because we kept messing up! we have finally just stopped worrying about it...if we mess up a little who cares.)

definitely PC. I use mac's at school and they are hard to work with after dealing with pc's forever.
R U serious? Heck if used a PC, I'd try to "get it in one take too." LOL

I do agree with the "make it natural approach" and not overly professional for YT.
Be your self. Put a little thought into what you doing. And maybe throw in some editing ( I am so guilty of not doing that).
Other then that....if you lucky enough- have the only review/video on a knife out there.

Make a playlist of you video. It does 2 things gives people a list at the side so they can easily find you next knife related video but it also will automatically take them to it if they are not fast enough.
I think the biggest thing I have learned is that if you speak clearly and have a well lit background so everyone can see what you are doing a video on it keeps the viewer watching. I agree with Ally that doing a small amount of editing goes along way as well as being your self. Everyone can tell when you are trying to hard.

having the only review out there is SO nice! ooor another is to have the BEST review on a certain knife..that helps a lot too.

like on my kershaw scallion, i didn't spend too much effort on it because there were a lot of reviews out there...but I at least wanted to give my "women friendly knives" approach on it!
also, i would add, keep it short and to the point....

AND MAKE SURE YOU KNOW WHAT YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT! i've seen a lot of reviews out there that are like 20 mins long and they are like...I think this is zytel...i could be wrong, i'm not sure..blah blah

look it up before you do the review or something geez!
I try to have the first review on a knife if possible. If not, then I look at other youtube knife reviewers that reviewed that particular knife and take note of things that they didn't mention and basically learn from their mistakes, so that way I can have the "best" review youtube.
I learned early on that tripods are a must and lately I've been using windows movie maker to add pictures, titles, and music for the opening and ending...J.T.
I only have seven subscribers but I havent even been making vids for a month yet. I dont use any editing software, I would like to but dont know what to use.
I had to get a better cam cause my old one left alot to be desired. I also picked up a tri-pod that extends to about 6 feet make s working with two hands easy.
I try to make videos that I would like to watch and hopefully others get something out of them.
Also I reply to everycomment.
Ryan.....
I like to use props for the knife or item I'm reviewing...
