Brad, That's interesting. Are you sure about the serial #? I thought (I've been wrong a LOT lately) that there were only 8K of them made. Like I noted parenthetically, I've been wrong a LOT lately. Indeed, though. It is a cool knife! I need to take some shots outdoors in natural light because using a flash makes the bolsters appear to be all scratched up. It doesn't look nearly as bad in natural light. Cheers!

Unbelievable, this the second Railroader I have seen today. A co-worker bought one with the box and papers for under a C-note this morning (serial# 8483).  It is an excellent knife.

Here are some better shots of that etch, sans flash. As you can see the etch is perfect and deep into the blade.

Not bad for a vintage Boker.

Ron an excellent sample of an old Boker, can make out the blade etch and look at the shield!
