When people talk about knife "addictions", one of the blades that immediately "pop" into my head is the SOG Vulcan. To say that I "love" this design would be an understatement. The one shown in this photo is my VL-02 "Mini-Vulcan". Sometimes, a name is misleading...and such is the case with the Mini-Vulcan. It is not "mini" at all...it is just quite a bit smaller than it's very burly big brother, the VL-01 (which I have and cherish). If you want to know about the common features of the Vulcan design, check out my Tanto Vulcan; I've provided some good, basic information there. The difference between this one and the Tanto VL-04 is just the blade shape. This particular shape (in VG-10 steel, no less!) is one of the best EDC cutters I've ever used. One of the things that I really dig about the Vulcans is their blade finish. Look at the gleam on that blade! Now that, true believers, is a nicely polished blade! Great design, great build quality, great ergonomics, great materials; the Vulcan is simply a GREAT knife (and reasonably affordable too!). Get one and you'll never view knives quite the same again.

Hi Ricky. I didn't see this comment so I'm very late getting back to you. To answer your questions, yes I still like it quite a lot. The blade steel is VG-10, so it has decent edge-holding ability and re-sharpens nicely. It's a very good knife for the money.

I am considering this knife. Do you still like it ? How does it hold an edge ?
