About Me
Knife collector from birth :D I don't remember the time when I don't carry a knife in my pocket. You know in USSR everything was like a gift! I remember when I get my first folding pocket knife! It was old Solingen knife, made by Balke&Shaaf (sheep on wooden stand) specially for J. Redlich store in Riga. Oh knife was a dream for small 6 years old boy. When I was going to sleep I was putting knife under the pillow :D
I wasn't a good knife user, I was using it like a crazy. I was throwing it into wooden doors (thats how knife loose small pen blade). Than I and my friends was playing a knives (game where was a circle draw on the ground 2 and more players, each get a piece of circle. Throw the knife into opponent piece of ground to make your piece bigger), maybe I will tell you more about this game!
Now each knife is valued for me, I carry them the best way I can!
Some time a go I start to make my own fixed blade knives, my first is miniature "micro Bushman" knife, but I hope some day I will make something normal size, not for selling (so far), just for me :)

Hallo knife manufacturers and knife collectors. Many of you know that many knives are manufactured in Asia countries, like China, we all have seen inscription on blades Made in China. Usually these knives are cheap, because workforce and materials are cheap!

thanks ivars ....i believe that either a beginner or someone whos been making blades for years can learn and benifit from each other ,everyones different and everyone has different ways of doing things.. sometimes lack of equipment forces you to be creative and learn alternate methods...thanks for having me my friend .

Ivars, did you see the picture of some of the old knives on the Whittler Group page? Check it out.

Hi Ivars! I haven't actually whittled much since I was a kid. Back then I liked to make animals. But some time ago my son started whittling and when I tried to teach him I remembered how fun it was, so I thought I'd give it a try again. It's a great thing to do while watching TV in the evenings when the kids have gone to bed.
