About Me
Of interest to knife collectors: I've always been fond of knives (and guns) of all sorts but never considered myself a collector. About four years ago I bought two heavy sewing machines, a pile of leather and tools and started looking for a market for my "stuff". Had no Idea where that was going.
My best results came with the knife collectors I ran into on eBay. Seems everybody has at leased one Buck 110 and needs a good sheath for it. I worked up some patterns and away we went. Results were steady for about two years till I either flooded my market or the bottom fell out. eBay didn't help either :-).
Anyway; every time somebody needed a sheath for a folder I didn't have, I'd buy one. Voi La.That's Knife collecting. It is still great fun and the customer relations I've had were the best anybody could hope for.
Found myself reading posts here the other evening and thought I might be of some help here. Looking forward to it.
Interests
Too many to list here: Short answer is; I like making things. That has lead me from blacksmithing, to knife making, to the building of 40 Pennsylvania Long Rifles. Now at 65 enjoy the leather game when time will permit it.
Other Hobbies
Motorcycles, fiddles, banjos, guns.A real decadent.

Hey Jack,
Never carved up my palm, but have given my fingers hell over the years.
I usually just clean the pit real good and let it dry out some. I've garved them from a couple of hours dry to last year dry. As long as they are dry enough to hold, which I guess answers your second question. I don't know any other way but to hold it in my "off" hand because you have to move it so much.
Might have to have a class down at the General Store for folks that want to give it a try.
Try the Carving Peach Pits page for inspiration.
