Oh, my gosh. I love Platts too! My favorite are those big old elephant toenails. I have both the jumbo made by C. Platts' Sons and then the standard size by Platts Brothers.

I've visited the old C. Platts and Sons/Eldred Cutlery Co./Brown-Rice-Hennigan site several times but haven't been to Eldred since the structure burned. I learned of it's destruction through Joe Platts grand daughter. If you don't have a copy of my Knife World article "The Forgotten Cutleries of Eldred," just provide your address and I'll get one right out to you. Looking forward to getting to know you.
