My Barlows All Pretty In a Box

I finally put my Barlows in a Box. I don't really like the box for these knives, I think I will swap out those smaller Coca-Cola knives and find something else for the Barlows, but it's better than throwing them in a cardboard box.

On the left side are various makers including Case, Boker, Maherr & Grosh and others.

On the right are my antique Russells. All are 1800s. I have a few more that I need to dig up that are 1920-30 Russells.

I also have a few Daddy/Grand-Daddy Barlows.

Contest:

I haven't had one of these for months and the first one was a lot of fun.

Therre are two here that I don't think are actually Barlows although that is what they were sold as.

Can you spot them? Remember...I'm talking about what my sick brain says are not Barlows. I admit that I could be wrong.

First person to pick both with no wrong answers will get 2 Barlows not shown here (both are Prov. Cut. Co., nothing to write home about).

First person to get one right will get one of those Prov. Cut. Co's.

If someone gets one right & then someone gets the 2nd right you split the Prov. Cut. Co's.

Fair? Understandable rules??

Deadline: 5 pm Pacific Time on Wednesday, June 6th...yes 2012!!

Below is the #5 knife that Robert correctly chose. We can see that the blade sits quite a bit higher than the Russell Barlow when closed and is shaped different when open.

Roberts correct answer came in at the last few minutes of the contest because he wanted to give others a chance since he won my first contest. And he has offered the prize (a newer Barlow same as JJ won) back into the prize pool so it will be part of the prize for our next contest.

As soon as I recover from this one!

And Robert deserves an iKC hand!!

This has been alot of fun both times I have played. I thought the contest was over when I entered my guess. Oh well, I have a great idea for the next Contest. Check out you home page, I'll send you my idea.

Comment by Lee Saunders on June 6, 2012 at 19:00: Well Robert picked the right knife. 5th down from the top. For the right reason. with the blades closed you can tell the primary on that knife is different from a regular Barlow.

But I think JJ is right because it is (I think) a Sheepsfoot blade. Which often confuses me with those "budding" kind of pruners.

So JJ and Robert can send me an address and I will ship your rewards!!

I will have to come up with another one. This is fun. I think I have another good one, I just have to come up with some prizes.
