Don't tease me!  You better hold off, I may not be any help to you at all!  I sent my cousin a text, waiting to hear back from him.  If there is someone around here doing that kind of work, he'll know.  He was making fixed blades from the ground up, I saw a couple he made and they were pretty nice, I think he realized that it was just too time consuming and what he could sell them for just didn't equal the manhours he had invested. I don't know if he's still doing it as a hobby.  The knives of his did not have antler handles so I don't know if he has worked with them himself or not.

By the way, this guy also has a barbecue team and he competes regionally.  That's a hobby I could equally enjoy as much as knives.

I don't know about the antler handles, but I know somebody who could help you eat all that dear meat!  The only custom knives I have are the stone scales done by Michael Hoover and I'm pretty sure that stone is all he works with.  I'm sure there is someone local who works with antler.  I have a cousin in Hazel Green who has been making a few custom fixed blade knives, I'm sure he would know some people in this area who do quality work.  I'll ask him and let you know. I was thinking how good the antler would look as the stem for a knife stand.  A short, straight piece of about 2 or 3 inches with a wood base and a thin wood platform, now that would look nice.  If you ever end up with any scrap pieces like that let me know.  I'd love to try to make some knife stands out of them, I'd split them with you.

I'm over that way quite a bit.  Good to find folks local.  I see you like the Case knives as well, I'd love to see some of the ones you have, anything unusual?
