If you want someone to be notified about the message, use the "CC" also. When you use either of these, their e-mail addresses will be visible to everyone else. If you want to hide everyons e_mail address, use the "BCC".

When ever I send messages to more than one person I always use the "BCC", in order to keep my friends e-mail addresses private.

Unless I'm doing business, I always use the BCC, which is "Blind courtisy copy". These addresses can not be seen by others. It's kind of a security feature that prevents others from accessing someone olses e-mail addresses.
