You reminded me Tobias.  I always carry my EDC's too.  A Case Mini Blackhorn and a Leatherman Micra.

I don't do by season so much as I do purpose.

I always carry my two EDC. A Victorinox Spartan Lite w/ after market plus scales and a Midnite Manager.

If I'm going fishing, I'm normally carrying a Rapala, Ontario, or Chicago Cutlery Fillet knife.  As for folders, I always carry some type of folding fish theme knife.  I recently acquired a George Schrade Fishing & Hunting knife which is going to see a lot of pocket time this summer! I mean there's a moose and a marlin engraved in the handle.  How can you NOT want to carry it!  (Below is a stock photo.  I still need to take some of mine!)

If I'm just hiking in the marsh I normally have some type of fixed blade,  In the past it was normally my Rough Rider 844 but I've just started carrying my Case Case Ridgeback Hunter

And for a back up folder I normally have my Victorinox Hunter as I need the saw blade.

While hunting during our 3 1/2 month long deer season, I carry my Buck Omni Hunter.

Other times just wandering the woods, riding my 4 wheeler, or checking out my game cameras I carry my Rough Rider Sidewinder.

I have knives I use in the Fall and Winter for hunting, and then I have knives I use in the Spring and Summer for Fishing and Crawfishing and Turtle trapping. I was wondering if Ya'll have different knives for different types of Outdoor adventures?

Oh well, our camping trip has been cancelled. My Grand Daughter is taking some big test in school and needs to study hard this week end, to try keep up her A average. I will go fishing instead. Her school work is the most important. She may be getting her first degree in May.

I know that an once of prevention is worth a pound of cure. Spraying your boots or shoes, helps a lot. I have also used Sulfur powder in my shoes and socks helps a lot. Another trick that works is Dryer non stick little sheets helps with all insects. Be prepared for the insects, don't let them stop you from enjoying a good time.

I'll try tell ya'll about some great Insect Repellent and Bite cures, later let me get my info together.

Thanks for the reminder about ticks, guys.  Leaving tomorrow morning for a long weekend at the cabin in Potter Co., PA to do some target shooting and knife testing.  A neighbor up there called to say that they are expecting snow overnight tonight - probably just a dusting, so maybe the ticks will be hiding for a while yet.  However, I need to get some spray.

I've been walking the trails through the wetlands near my house year round for well over five years. A year or two back I was out with my kids and spotted a full grown garter snake sunning itself on the trail.  As the kids rarely get to see such a thing up close I decided it was a good teaching moment and  decided to catch it.

Well I'm not as agile as I was back in the day, and the critter had apparently warmed up more than I thought because as I reached down to get him, he decided to scurry off into the tall grass.  That didn't deter me.  I left the trail after him and managed to get him just before he slithered under a rotting log.

He was a beauty.  A good two feet long and full of pep.

Needless to say, the ground was quite marshy so I had a good bit of mud on me and clothes but it was worth it.  I let the snake go and he went his way and we went our way.  That night as I was throwing all the dirty stuff in the washer I found a little friend crawling on my pants.  It was a black legged tick (better known as a  Deer Tick).  So I'm getting the kids out of bed and calling there friends and making everyone do the "check for ticks" dance at ten o'clock at night!

Turns out I was the only one who came up positive and the only place they were found was on my pants leg.  But I spent the next two days scouring every nook and cranny in the house and at least another month checking the cats for ticks.

Funny thing is this was my first encounter with ticks since leaving Florida in 1968!  No Ticks while rolling in the sand in Texas, hiking the Black Mountains of Kentucky or playing in the swamps during College or in the Army!
