Welcome Home...THANK YOU FOR BEING A PART OF OUR COMMUNITY

Over the last week I acquired 4 blade blanks for customization. The materials they use for their "S" line of products are 440C, manufactured in China.

The ones I selected are pictured below:

The top one will definitely receive a Stag taper handle, the Guthook blank will receive a Purpleheart Wood scales w/ Pink liners(for the younger niece). The bottom 2 are to be more detail specific in the handle materials. I would like some ideas on the materials for those, but keep in mind my skill level when making those suggestions. Novice.

Part Deux:

The knife Fairy brought these to me Tuesday:

Brad, sorry if I have been remiss in my replies- But by George, I think you have got the hang of this !! The Ironwood hunter is a beauty, but my favorite is the Osage Orange Raptor. The handle profile is right on , and like Ron, I agree the yellow liners compliment the Osage perfectly !! Great job, my friend ! !Each one keeps getting better and better !!

As you all know, I gave my bro-n-law the Subhilt fighter(he loves it). I also sent off the the Purpleheart Guthook hunter, the Ironwood hunter and the Osage Fingerhole skinner to my Sister's family.

I still need to finish 2 knives, another Purpleheart Guthook hunter w/Red liners for my other niece and a Green Jigged bone Tanto for my sister's stepson. Luckily I am further on with these than I remembered. I had promised these to ship by November.

Well looks like you have a month!

Found another blank that I hand cut some Suriname Snake wood scales for also. Will get a pic of that set going together tomorrow.

Like that snakewood and that sure is going to be a busy month.

The Snakewood Texas skinner & Green Jigged bone Tanto are already glued. Need to cut some new Purpleheart wood for the Gut hook tomorrow.

Snakewood Texas Skinner is done.

Brad that is looking good!  That snake wood has some good figure to it!

Looking good, Brad! And, if you've already mentioned this I'll apologize for asking again, but, what flavor is the steel on this knife? That is, do you know what specific type of steel this blank was and also how it was heat treated?

Cheers, my friend! I hope it's been a little cooler down there where you're at? It has been brutal inland where I live! Give me some winter weather - the sooner the better!

Premium Knife Supply's "S" series of knives are made of 440C stainless. They claim to be HRC 57-58.

I live in Central O.C., so this weekend it hovered in the mid to high 90's.

Thanks, Brad!

And, as far as this weather goes, I keep hoping it will cool down but there doesn't seem to be any relief in sight. It's currently 97 up here in Sierra Madre. And THIS IS the cooler weather they keep promising me on the evening weather reports on television. It doesn't cool down all that much at night, either! Oh, well. Ha!
