I have been at it about 12 years. One bit of advice, Is forge and make what you love making to start. Focus on a certain blade design until you get it down. Keep it simple. Make sure you work on a good hardening and tempering technique. Almost every maker has there own way of doing this, or own little technique they have developed. Hope this helps.

HI Jeff: Thanks for posting. Glad to hear you started making knives. Thank you for the compliments on my work. I am in upstate NY. Where are you located?
Jeff, Sunday was actually busier than Sat.....which normally is not the case at most shows....I was swamped (in a good way). I handed out alot of iKC flyers Sunday...should get a few members from it. Overall...a pretty good show....I have already booked tables for the Feb. show next year. Talk soon...I need to get some sleep!!!!
Hey man, yeah I was able to go. It was really cool, i talked to some very nice and fun knife makers, there were some beautiful knives. I didnt buy anything, nothing that fit my price range was particularly interesting, but it was an awesome experience.
jeff, knifemakers guild show was great time. meet ken coats knifemaker of ikc. lots of supplies there was over 10 vendors there. bought stag. pearl, tortise shell, lots of belts 3m. a few books. and maybe another burr king grinder variable speed. working out a price on grinder hope to have it soon. went down all 3 days. it will be at sealback hotel next 5 years.
