Hi Stephen, I looked at the middle pin on my knife and it appears to be same material as the other.I also checked a few other wood handle archangels and they had three pins as well,also the rare stag archangel has three pins, so I would say they are made that way. Its does grow on you its one of those knives that you keep coming back to and pretty soon you really like it alot.Thanks for looking Stephen,I'll talk with you later,Carl.
