Hi all!

I picked this up at a yard sale today.  I think I got a deal!  Very nice shape, really really light, but I know nothing else about it.  I did look up the Case stamp so I know about when it was made.  I think it's my new hiking knife, but does anyone know anything else about it?

Julie,

Is there a number on the back side of the tang?

At this point I know it is fiber and leather handle with round aluminum pommel.  Depending on what the number is

Possibly the five inch combo skinning and sticking blade, corrugated on back for thumb grip.  Chrome finished nickel silver guard, fiber and leather handle.  An all purpose knife for the out-door man.  With leather sheath.  original price per dozen 30.00

This is according to the Dewey Ferguson, Romancing the Knife  .

Hi Jan,

There's no numbers on it at all, but that might be it because it is a good all-around knife.  Do you have the years it was manufactured?  It is corrugated on the back:

That Tang Stamp began in the 40's and this knife was discontinued in 1974.  I lean toward the earlier years because of the round pommel

Great ol' knife you got there Julie! you say a yard sale? If you only paid a few bucks you got a good deal. Just to get an old Case and in fair shape... its worth it to give it a good home.

I don't know that I can add a whole lot--Found 2 pictures and mentions of this knife--Neither mentioned the model number- One mention was in Jim Sargent's-American Premium Guide to Knives and Razors-5th edition(page 248- bottom right photo) Case rarely marked their fixed blade knives with model numbers like they do pocket knives for some reason--Valued at $75 back when the book was published in 1999-- This knife was discontinued early in the 50's-- Therefore, it was made somewhere between 1940 and the early 1950's.
