"I agree with Tobias in that the winged crown looks like the Olbertz mark. With the nail attachment, wide German silver (nickel silver) band and the style of the rostfrei stamp, my first impression is an earlier knife perhaps 1930s-50s. If it was…"

A question about the dates of some CASE knifes

I am currently looking at a knife described on ebay as CASE XX 9208 SS 2-DOT 2008.  Does this mean that the knife was only made in 2008 or is it simply the first year of manufacture?  I do notice knives that are said to be new but have dates as far back as 1998. Again only made in 1998 or 1st year of manufacture? Case fans input to answer this question will be appreciated.?See More

Jay, got your message to the Rough Rider Group about the RR235, mini-trapper.   Your complaint was a common one about  some of the early Rough Riders.  I've got the  3.25 inch  RR419 Black Pearl  Sleeveboard whittler and it also has nail breaker blades, especially the main blade.  I don't have an answer for you.  My whittler has been opened and closed a couple hundred time and the spring is still a s strong as can be.     What I can tell you is that not every Rough Rider suffers from this problem.  Toby
