I got the jaguar balisong in the 90's. I was still in high school then. I used it as a beater knife as you can see. I opened some canned goods with it once while my friends and I were camping.

Gerber axes are solidly constructed and generally hold their edge well. They are an excellent value for their price range. For camping and backpacking the Back Paxe is good... compact (approx. 9" in length) and fairly lightweight (just over a pound @ 19.3 oz.) The Gator Combo Axe is an handy little dual system. It features a knife inside the handle that can be used for small camp chores and other tasks.... good for a backup, in the truck, or inside a BOB. Even though Gerber is famous/infamous for their "mystery" steel, these are of good quality for the tasks and abuse that they were designed to perform. They are good all-around beaters that will handle the job for years to come. I prefer them to the other more high-priced snooty brands.
