Bob, I have used wallnut! its very beautiful wood. I have not stabilized it other then by proprer drying. and taking extra care of the wood.. It is a very dence wood and dont really need to be stabilized unless it is a old or burl That would possibly fall apart as it is beeing worked. My advice to you is this.. Any wood that you use must be DRY and cut properly.. The process takes 3 to 7 years and I dont believe in doing it any other way.. Kilns have a purpose and work OK for some wood drying applications. But when It comes to knife handle I want the wood DRY and stable in its own state.. even B4 I stabilize it!! Hmm Lets say I could just go on and on.. so If you want to chat My phone # is on my web site.. Give me a call and If I can help ya I will. Randy

Morning Bob, Thanks for checking out my pics.. and the comment. I have some of the finest and most beautiful burl on the planet! Its one of my biggest collections. I spend Huge amounts of time and money in search of these beautiful burl woods... All the woods I use have been stabilized, which is a process that makes the wood very strong.. and usable for knife handles and other cool stuff...
If you are interested in seeing more BURL! or getting a knife made. let me know what type or color and I will send ya some pics of my stash..
God bless you and your family!
